FULL MOONS, WEREWOLVES, AND YOU!!

From the 17th century down through this present century, there lived theories about werewolves and the full moon. The educated, superstitious, religious and scientific men throughout time, have all come up with their own theories about werewolves and their relation to the full moon. I just figured I’d throw mine in the hat and get the party started.

I know discussing this somewhat dates me but whose counting. As a young lad, we loved watching, “Creature Feature” and SvenGhoolie.” This was during an era when televisions has knobs to turn and antennas to adjust for reception. Many televisions were black and white in color, and you needed pliers and foil on standby. If you owned a thirteen inch screen, it was considered luxury.

Frankenstein, the Vampire, the Creature from the Black Lagoon were all stars back then. I believe they have all retired now. I think I saw them in a retirement home right outside of Jersey. Frank’s feet are bad, Vampy is being fitted for partials, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon is teaching ceramics down at the local USO. To my surprise, the Werewolf is still getting gigs. He has the longevity of Elvis.

When it came to werewolves, there were many observations. The ancient Greeks noticed the way that the weak gravitational pull of the moon affected the ocean tides and figured that since the human brain contains moisture that the moon could also screw up someone’s mind in the same way, which would cause savage feelings to come forth. The “civilized man” might be gradually transformed by the pull of the moon into a raging, irrational creature – a lunatic. Today, I am convinced that we don’t need a full moon, a gravitational pull, or moisture affecting the brain to have werewolf tendencies.

Jokingly, I am convinced that all of us have a little werewolf in us. The only way I can prove my small theory is to make a comparative analysis.

First, on a good day the werewolf was an average everyday person who lived a normal life. It was when the moon turned full, that he would transform into this “irrational lunatic.” He would grow fangs, claws, and fur. At the end of the full moon, the werewolf would transform back into a normal man. He would find himself naked somewhere with no recollection of what happened the night before. We may not grow fangs, claws, and fur, but the “irrational lunatic,” can surface with or without a full moon. Here is my disclaimer: (If you wake up naked in places you didn’t go to bed in, SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. You are not a werewolf, you have several others issues.) When we get “certain feelings,” We are guilty of irrational behavior. You may not wake up outdoors in a field, but some of us have come to ourselves in jail, jobless, homeless, or on a couch with shopping bags, filled with new shoes and purses that you either can’t afford or need. How do you explain it? The werewolf in you.

Secondly, the man with the werewolf tendencies would always warn others of his condition. On the night of the full moon, he would barricade himself inside a room and plead for others to not let him out, until the full moon passed. He would attempt to prevent himself from causing further damage to himself and others.

Most of us should know by now your bad day, weak day, vulnerable day, or the day when YOU KNOW YOU ARE OUT OF CONTROL!! This is the day you should stay away from people, shopping centers, mall, ice cream parlors, and shoe stores. Here is my recommendation, BARRICADE YOURSELF IN!!

Paul spoke of his battle within the book of Romans 7:14-20, For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

Thirdly, the only way to stop the werewolf was with a silver bullet. Believe me, You really don’t want to catch a hot one in order to get things together. There is a more conventional way.

I recommend you SUBDUE YOU!! If you barricade you in, you actually barricade yourself in with the monster. The only way I know to SUBDUE YOU, is with the WORD OF GOD and yielding to the Spirit of God.

Come on, Get it together!! It’s 2015!!

  1. We all have a little werewolf in us. A part of us that we try to supress, but know we need to deal with and conquer. That part of us which we need to have a come to Jesus meeting with.

Ask God about that..he has the answer.
