I guess I oughta say “Good Morning” to God, then you before everybody else and everything this world has to offer on the to-do list. As if we were given another day to simply fulfill the expectations of others, no way. Life to me has to always be slowed to a manageable pace. My cadence cannot be that of others. This is a one on one relationship. “Nobody talking when I’m talking!!” I hear him say.

I ran across a magician the other day who was performing a trick that I thought quite intriguing or at least the announcement of it. He would attempt to pull a rabbit out of a hat. You should know me by now. I got questions!! Why a rabbit and why would this be so phenomenal? No chicken, no llama, no Pekingese poodle, a rabbit? Why a rabbit? Ok let’s go.

In my research, I discovered that the reason why rabbits are chosen for this trick is…ready for this? Rabbits have the ability to sit still long enough for the trick to be performed. Llamas don’t have the patience to sit still long enough inside a top hat. Pekingese poodles are claustrophobic and chicken are too arrogant to be held at bay. I didn’t know this. What about you?

The preacher in me desires to have at this. Biting at the bit I am. The God we know, serve and love is a God of Miracles!! He is able to perform mind blowing miracles and feats in our lives. Rabbits being pulled out of top hats suggest magical stuff to me. I’ve been on the stage a time or two myself. In darkness but didn’t understand it. I just figured that we live most of our lives back stage. As I digress, Let me explain.

Okay, here is the setup, God is the magician, we are the rabbits and the hat is the space and place that God is holding us. I’m sure, like the magician, Gad makes us a promise that if we wait right here or “STAND STILL,” that he’ll be right back. He even gives the rabbit a few carrots or “promises” to hold on to until he gets back. Sound familiar? Because we are so impatient, hate darkness and need to know everything, we blow the trick, the magic, and the miracle!!! You and I prematurely freak out and jump out the hat!! Maybe just maybe God, at his appointed time, desires to pull you out or through something? Could it be HE wants to put you on display on the Big stage but you keep blowing it??? Why do you have to know it all? Why must you have a sneak peek? When will you stop seeking instant gratification in everything?

Maybe the rabbit trusts that the Magician knows what he is doing?

Here is the big finale!!! Drum roll please!!! The next time you are in a “TOP HAT,” SIT STILL!! Even if you can’t hear what the magician is saying to the crowd, relax and know that your part is to praise HIM when he pulls you out. If by chance you are still nervous in dark places and don’t know what to do while you wait, PRAISE HIM for what He is about to do!!! Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids but MIRACLES ARE FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE!!!
