My Jam comes on in the Club and I need a partner. I look across the room and their she sits, dancing in her seat looking around as if to put out the vibe, I WANNA DANCE Please ASK ME!! I build up enough courage to walk all the way across the club in clear view of everybody. They all seem to watch this sad scene play out in slow motion like a missed catch in the end zone during Super Bowl time. I make my approach, and say, “Would you like to dance?” And out it jumps, the word NO!! It seems like the whole world watched and heard it, REJECTION. The request for affection, a hug, attention, and even acceptance can be destroyed by REJECTION. WE HATE REJECTION, WE LOATHE IT, WE DESPISE IT, WE FEAR IT!! WE HATE THE WAY IT MAKES US FEEL, LOOK AT, AND THINK ABOUT OURSELVES. WE ACTUALLY STRUGGLE WITH REJECTION BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE A NATURAL DESIRE TO BE ACCEPTED.
THE MOST DAMAGING REJECTION COMES FROM PEOPLE THAT WE HOLD IN HIGH ESTEEM, LOVE, AND HONOR. When we are rejected by these people our worlds are shattered and we turn inward to cope and this many times makes matters worse. When a loved one, peers, or even a boss rejects us, we sometimes feel unwanted, insignificant, useless, undeserving, and unloved.
People who cannot recover from rejection (all of us will experience it ), many times commit suicide, become introverts, live guarded lives so that they never have to experience again.
What we should remember is, WE CANNOT CONTROL WHAT PEOPLE THINK, SAY, OR FEEL ABOUT US, BUT WE CAN CONTROL HOW WE RESPOND TO IT!!
RECOVERY!!
What SUPERSEDES what others think about me, and even what I think incorrectly about myself, is WHAT AND HOW GOD THINKS AND FEELS ABOUT ME!!
GOD LOVES ME UNCONDITIONALLY. When others REJECT ME AND say, I am useless, unloved, unworthy, and insignificant, I TAKE JOY IN KNOWING THAT GOD LOVES ME MORE THAN I EVEN LOVE MYSELF.
