There was a story of a little girl who was in class, completing an assignment. The teacher’s assignment was for every child to draw a picture of something near and dear to them. As the children began drawing, the teacher walked around the class checking each child’s progress. When he passed Mary’s desk, he saw a picture that he did not understand. He said, “Mary, what are you drawing?” Mary stated, ” I am drawing a picture of God.” The teacher said, “How can you draw a picture of God? Nobody has seen God, or knows what God looks like?” Mary said, “They will know in a minute!”
Mary was not afraid to draw and let the world know what God actually looked like.
Ken Robinson states, in his book on Creativity, that all children are artist in the beginning. When we were children , we were all artists. Some where along the way we stopped
drawing. I believe I know why, and it angers me.
At some point, somebody killed it for us. Some negative, mean, envious, jealous, insecure, Moron messed it up for all of us. What people say negatively can hinder us and stunt our growth.
All of us have been affected by negativity. It really bothers me, when it comes from loves ones and family.
As an adult, If I know there is an assassination attempt on my life, I would protect myself, but as a child I am helpless. I just wonder, what we could have accomplished and become, if we had not been dumped on with negativity.
My momma said, “If you don’t have anything good to say, Shut the hell up!” I’m going with momma on this one.
I agree with momma! You have to be careful who you share your dreams with. There are some real dream killers out here. They are usually those closest to you.
