The BENEFITS OF MEETING GOD EARLY

Generally, waking up early in the morning, is not a favorite past time of many people. It is probably known as, “the dreaded task” that most are forced to do, and not preferred. Who wants to get up early in the morning? A better question might be is, “Why get up early in the morning?” The answer is me, and the reason why, I am going to share with you. I love getting up early in the morning. Ok, I said it, and I’ll say it again, I love waking up early in the morning. Before you write me off as crazy, let me offer to you a few benefits to waking up early, and if by chance, you don’t agree, then simply go back to sleep. I really don’t want you up early and mad because, you run the risk of
messing up early morning for the rest of us who do.

One of the benefits of waking up early is, you get to enjoy silence. There is nothing like being up , when nobody else is. You can call me weird but, the sound of nothing soothes me. No radio, no television, no walking and talking, no car doors and engines cranking. Somebody said, “Silence is golden,” and I wholeheartedly agree. Although, this gold can only be mined in the wee hours, and I can tell you, the competition is not fierce this early in the morning. I love silence! My momma use to say, You can hear yourself think.” You should try and find a quiet place and enjoy some silence.

The second benefit to waking up early is, being alone with God. Seeking God’s face early is what believers are admonished to do in scripture. Most people only wake up in enough time to, race and run through their day chasing task, and pursuing goals. The problem is, you have not talked to God. I think it is important to talk to God, before the day begins. None of us know is going to happen in the next 24 hours of a day, but God does. As a matter of fact, you may not even have your day planned out, but God already knows every detail, from the eventful to the minute. It seems wise to me, to meet with the Master early, so He can brief you on the day, and possibly you can offer Him your request.

The third benefit to waking up early is, Private prayer and praise. If you find a real believer, look for them early in the morning. You will find us, on floors, in beds, behind closed doors, whispering our prayers to God. Praying and praising God by yourself will either, make you a candidate for the looney bin, or the blessing and power of God. I prefer the latter, and could care less if you vote for me, to be in the looney bin. I love to praise God by myself. Praise is truly private before it’s corporate anyway. If you wait until you get to church around others to praise God, you are missing out. Some of the things that God has done for me in private, require a little alone time to thank Him. Repentance is private. It’s a time for me to get myself together with God. I highly recommend you spend some time with God, prior to meeting this world. A peaceful moment with the God of Peace, has to rub off on you at some point.

I don’t have much time left, and in a few minutes, some of you will wake up fussing, turning on your music, televisions, and talking loud. The Christian early birds will be smiling, with peace in our hearts, as we descend from being with God early.

The great hymn writer is right, “and the joy we share, as we tarry there, none other shall ever know.”

Get up early, you will be a better person for it!
