Are you Addicted to Applause? Approval or praise expressed by clapping.
I think from the time we were little children, we are always taught to LISTEN and LIVE for APPLAUSE. I heard someone say, “Too much of anything is not good for you.” When it comes to APPLAUSE, the lack thereof can be equally damaging if you are not careful.
You cannot place your trust in APPLAUSE. All APPLAUSE IS NOT ALWAYS REAL or GENUINE. On some television production sets, you find in house audiences that are cued when to applaud by a flashing sign or a person holding up a card. Prerecorded laugh and applaud tracks are recorded in to the taping of some shows.
It’s dangerous because people are so ADDICTED TO APPLAUSE, that not hearing it after a performance could destroy their desire to ever do it again.
Everybody loves and enjoys support and encouragement, but when you become ADDICTED to APPLAUSE, you are in trouble.
I wanted to offer this point of discussion and consideration because all of us might benefit by considering how much we actually depend on APPLAUSE. I guess a good question would be, “Would you still get on stage and offer your BEST PERFORMANCE, if you knew no one was in the audience?” What if no one clapped?
I am simply saying, “DON’T DO IT FOR APPLAUSE and DON’T QUIT IF YOU DON’T GET IT!!”
Never interpret APPLAUSE as approval or a request for an encore. It could mean, “We are glad you are finished.”
Some people want APPLAUSE for waking up, brushing their teeth and showering. Nobody will APPLAUD your getting up and going to the gym or you making it to work in time, Finishing a degree or writing a song.
I am really concerned about people who will do nothing because they don’t get the APPLAUSE that they so desperately desire.
Somebody said, I’d rather be rich than famous. I guess rich people don’t need your applause but famous people might.
Do it because YOU LOVE and ENJOY IT!! APPRECIATE APPLAUSE BUT NEVER LIVE FOR IT!!
Some people pay TOP DOLLAR prices for front row seats at comedy shows and musical performances and never laugh or applaud.
I just want to encourage someone to DO IT ANYWAY!!!
