When You Look In The Mirror, What Do You See?

I Looked in the Mirror…

I looked in the mirror. Here’s a good question. What do you see? I walked past the mirror. I glanced in the mirror. I stopped and stared into the mirror. I analyzed the subject in the mirror. It was a reflection. It simply bounced back to me what the mirror saw. Mirror, Mirror on the wall, don’t say a word. I’m not ready yet.

You ever just look into the mirror and listen to the internal conversation going on inside your head. Man, what a head job!!! Somebody been tampering with my head man!!! Who is doing all this talking? I have never heard so much negative, toxic foolishness in my life.

Let me ask again, “When you look in the mirror, what do you see?” Several things actually. What’s right, what’s wrong, what’s missing, what was, what is, and even “where did that come from?”

Am I gracious and loving or mean and critical?

Who taught you to hate you? Your eyes, your hair, your nose, your lips, your teeth, your moles and freckles, your scars, your birthmark.

No wonder no one can love you, you don’t love yourself. Since you don’t, you assume we won’t. My heart is heavy now because you avoid mirrors. Somebody stood on the other side the mirror and intentionally spoke wicked words into your hearing and it makes me mad. What a head job!!

It happened to me too. This world is so judgmental. You have to love what God made.

I never forget the image in the movie, “The Color Purple.” Suge Avery has Ceely dressed up and standing before the mirror. Why is the mirror foreign to us? We find more comfort in the opinions of the world? We should spend more time in the mirror!! Maybe you will get the understanding that, You are what God made and you can’t exchange it for a new one. “You shole is ugly!!” were her words. Your momma ugly are mine.

Nobody gets the right to judge ME if they didn’t create ME!!!!!!

Why not spend some time in the mirror ALONE? Why not love on you? Encourage you? Talk out loud to YOU?

Once I recognize the head job done on me, now I have to undo what’s been done!!

It’s time for me to LOVE ME!! I’m all I got!! I love those Selfie People!! They whip that camera out and turn it loose on themselves!!!! That’s what I’m talking about!!!

I wish every mother would take your daughter and every father, his son, and spend some time in the mirror!! I wish every father would take his daughter and every mother her son, to the mirror and spend some considerable time fixing what they see!!

This thought stuck with me all day so I wrote it down and couldn’t wait to put my pen to it!! God made mirrors so we can see what amazing creatures HE made.

When you look in the mirror, what is the conversation in your head? If you fix that, you fix the world.
